Daniela Danz
Daniela Danz is the author of five books of poetry, two novels, and an essay collection, all in German. In 2026 she was awarded the Literature Prize of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Earlier, she held the professorship of poetics at the University of Bamberg and curated the international Poetica festival in Cologne. She has worked as an art cataloger and museum director; currently, she directs a nationwide youth competition to foster democracy. She lives with her family in Kranichfeld, a small town in rural Thuringia, Germany. (updated 10/2026)

Monika Cassel’s translation of Portolan by Daniela Danz is forthcoming from Georgia Review Books in 2027; her cotranslation with Christopher Nelson of No One’s Woman by Barbara Köhler is forthcoming from Green Linden Press in 2028.
