The Voice of Grass

Valery Shevchuk is a Ukrainian writer, translator, and scholar. He has published numerous books in his native country, including The House on the Hill from which his story The Voice of Grass has been excerpted for AGNI. (updated 1993)

Yuriy Tarnavsky was born in Ukraine and has lived in the U.S. since 1952. He is a founding member of the New York Group, an avant-garde Ukrainian emigré writers’ group, and a member of Fiction Collective. He has published eleven volumes of poetry and two novels. (updated 1992)
