Lorea Canales is the author of two novels—Becoming Marta (Amazon Crossing, 2016; trans. Gabriel Amor), an Amazon bestseller, and Los Perros (Random House Mexico, 2013)—and the story collection Mínimas Despedidas (Dharma Books, 2019). Born and raised in Mexico, she holds an LLM from Georgetown and an MFA from New York University, and has worked as a lawyer, a journalist for Agencia Reforma, and an editor for The New York Times’ Spanish news service. Lia Galván is an emerging translator from Mexico City. Her translations have appeared in Lunch Ticket, AGNI, Harvard’s Translators’ Corner, and La Piccioletta Barca. She received a BA in English from UNAM and an MFA in literary translation from Boston University. (updated 10/2025)
