Lawrence Rosenwald is the Anne Pierce Rogers Professor of American Literature at Wellesley College. He has written about American diaries, the relationship between words and music, and translation theory, and has published translations in several languages. His current project is a study of how American literature represents languages and dialects in contact. (updated 2001)
