Pseudohorse

Giampiero Neri was born near Lake Como in 1927. A bank employee for forty years, he has been writing poetry his entire life. In 2007 his Poems, 1960-2005 was published by Mondadori (with an introduction by the Italian poet Maurizio Cucchi). His newest collection, Paesaggi Inospiti (Inhospitable Landscapes), was brought out in 2009, also by Mondadori. (updated 4/2009)

Martha Cooley is the author of two novels—The Archivist, a national bestseller published in a dozen foreign markets, and Thirty-Three Swoons—and a memoir, Guesswork. She co-translated Antonio Tabucchi’s Time Ages in a Hurry and the poetry of Giampiero Neri and Loris Jacopo Bononi. Her short fiction, essays, and co-translations have appeared in A Public Space, The Common, AGNI, The Southampton Review, and elsewhere. She is professor of English at Adelphi University. Antonio Romani is a former teacher and bookseller whose translations have appeared in A Public Space, AGNI, and PEN America.
