Sugawara Katsumi
Sugawara Katsumi was imprisoned during World War II for opposing the Japanese military regime. In the 1960s he became a key member of the “Archipelago” Poetry Group, and created a poetry journal titled P which he edited until he died in 1988. (updated 1996)
Arthur Binard
Arthur Binard is an American poet living in Japan. He has published in both Japanese and English and received awards including the Yamamoto Kenkichi Literature Prize and the Kodansha Essay Award. He has also translated Japanese poetry, including Hajime Kijima’s Responses Magnetic. (updated 6/2010)
