Virgil Suárez
Virgil Suárez was born in Cuba in 1962. In 1974, he moved to the United States, where he later received his MFA at Louisiana State University. He has published five collections of poetry and two memoirs. Among his many achievements and awards are the Florida State Individual Artist Grant and the G. MacArthur Poetry Prize, as well as a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. He currently lives in Tallahassee. (updated 7/2010)

Delia Poey
Delia Poey is a translator, writer, and scholar of U.S. Latino literature. She edited Out of the Mirrored Garden: A Collection of Latino Women’s Writing (Anchor, 1995) and is coeditor, with her husband Virgil Suárez, of Little Havana Blues: A Cuban-American Anthology (Arte Publico, 1996).
