Yuri Trifonov
The novelist, essayist, and playwright Yuri Trifonov (1925–1981) was one of the greatest Russian writers of the post-1945 era. At the time of his death in Moscow, he was being considered for the Nobel Prize.
Maxim D. Shrayer
Born in Moscow in 1967, Maxim D. Shrayer immigrated to the U.S. in 1987. He is professor of Russian and English at Boston College. A bilingual writer and translator, Shrayer is the author and editor of ten books, including The World of Nabokov’s Stories and Russian Poet/Soviet Jew. He recently edited and co-translated the two-volume Anthology of Jewish-Russian Literature. Shrayer adapted “Sarda Resarta” from his forthcoming memoir, Waiting for America: A Story of Emigration.
