The Accident Painter
Joseph Johnston has worked closely with Tz’utujil and Kaqchikel Maya artists from Guatemala for the last thirty-five years, mounting over fifty exhibitions. He met Isaias Hernández in 1993, just when the artist began painting in oils. Johnston’s photographs of unhoused people in his San Francisco neighborhood have appeared in The Sun.
