Solveig von Schoultz (1907–1996), belonged to the small minority of Swedish-speaking families in Finland. She wrote sixteen collections of poetry, eight collections of short stories, two novels, and a biography of her mother, Portratt av Hanna (Portrait of Hanna), as well as fifteen dramas for radio, and four for television and film. Brita Stendahl, born in Stockholm, Sweden, has taught Scandinavian literature in the Harvard Freshman Seminar program and in the Radcliffe Seminars program. her books include Søren Kierkegaard (Twayne, 1976), Sabbatical Reflections (Fortress Presss, 1978), The Force Tradition (Fortress Press, 1984), and Fredrika Bremer 1801– 1865 (Mellen Press, 1994).
