.CHISARAOKWU., MD, is a transdisciplinary poet artist, and a physician. Her work can be found in Decolonial Passage, AGNI, Beloit Poetry Journal, Obsidian, Indiana Review, and elsewhere. A recent National Endowment for the Arts fellow, she has also received fellowships from the California Arts Council, Cave Canem, and MacDowell, among others. From 2010 to 2017, she served as a U.S. commissioner to UNESCO. (updated 10/2026)
