Andrew Furman teaches in the MFA program in creative writing at Florida Atlantic University. He is the author, most recently, of the novel Alligators May Be Present (University of Wisconsin, 2005). His memoir about his high school basketball team and the effort to desegregate the Los Angeles public schools is forthcoming from Syracuse University Press in fall 2010. His shorter work has appeared in Poets & Writers, AGNI Online, Ecotone, Image, ISLE, and elsewhere, and he is a frequent reviewer for the Miami Herald. (updated 12/2009)
