Taras Mel’Nychuk, born in 1939 in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine, has worked as a technical editor, a journalist, a forester, and a miner. He was expelled from the University of Chernivtsi and spent some time in prison for his political views. He is the author of a collection of poetry, Let’s Bring Love to the Planet (1967). A new collection, Prince of the Dew, is being published by Molod Lyontn publishers. (updated 1990)
