The Prologue

Vedran Husić’s collection of stories, Basements and Other Museums (Black Lawrence Press, 2018), won the St. Lawrence Book Award. His writing has appeared or is forthcoming in Blackbird, Ecotone, Electric Literature’s Recommended Reading, AGNI, Copper Nickel, and elsewhere. The recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship, he was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina and raised in Germany and the United States. His essay in AGNI, “The Prologue,” is part of his recently completed memoir, For Those Truly Living. (updated 4/2025)
