Paul Katz worked as a photographer of art at the Guggenheim Museum from 1962 to 1973 and directed a program of photography exhibitions at New York’s Marlborough Gallery from 1975 to 1977. From 1968 to 1971 he co-edited Art Now: New York, a publication dedicated to artist writings. He began painting in 1962 in the studio of Ward Jackson, a close friend and mentor, and since 1989 has worked at his art full-time. His drawings, paintings, and photographs are included in the permanent collections of The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, The Rose Art Museum, The National Gallery of Washington, Amherst College, and Yale University. He lives with his wife, the painter Anima Katz, in Shaftsbury, Vermont. (updated 4/2018)
