Khairani Barokka, a Minang-Javanese writer and artist from Jakarta, is the author, most recently, of the poetry collection Ultimatum Orangutan (Nine Arches Press, 2021), shortlisted for the Barbellion Prize. Among her other honors, she has been Modern Poetry in Translation’s inaugural writer-in-residence, a UNFPA Indonesian Young Leader Driving Social Change, and associate artist at the UK’s National Centre for Writing.
