John Solt is an Assistant Professor of Japanese Literature at Amherst College. He has published several volumes of poetry and has organized numerous exhibitions on the work of avant-garde Japanese artists. He recently completed his PhD dissertation on the Japanese surrealist poet Kitasono Katue. (updated 1990)
