William Giraldi is the author of three novels, About Face, Hold the Dark, and Busy Monsters, the memoir The Hero’s Body, and the essay collection American Audacity: In Defense of Literary Daring (all W. W. Norton & Co). His stories and essays have appeared in Oxford American, VQR, The New Republic, AGNI, Ploughshares, Bookforum, The Guardian, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Commentary, and elsewhere.
