Serhiy (Sergo) Paradjanov is a native Georgian of Armenian descent. As a prominent Soviet filmmaker, he is especially noted for his award-winning film, “Shadows of the Forgotten Ancestors,” made in Ukrainian. His latest film, known internationally, is “The Legend of the Surani Fortress.” (updated 1989)
