Scholastique Mukasonga
Scholastique Mukasonga’s books in English translation include Cockroaches, Our Lady of the Nile, The Barefoot Woman, Igifu, Kibogo, and Sister Deborah, all published by Archipelago Books. She received the Prix Renaudot for Our Lady of the Nile, and The New York Times named Cockroaches one of the fifty best memoirs of the past fifty years. Kibogo and The Barefoot Woman were finalists for the National Book Award, the International Dublin Literary Award, and the NBCC/Gregg Barrios Prize. Kibogo won the Oxford-Weidenfeld Prize and a PEN Translates Award. Mukasonga’s collection of stories Murmurs from the Hills will be published by Archipelago in 2026. (updated 10/2025)
