
Alen Hamza
Alen Hamza immigrated to the United States as a refugee from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is the author of Twice There Was a Country (The Ohio State University Press, 2020), chosen by Brenda Hillman as winner of the CSU Poetry Center First Book Award. His poems have appeared in Fence, AGNI, Narrative, The Southern Review, The Iowa Review, Prairie Schooner, and elsewhere. He teaches at Western Michigan University. (updated 10/2025)
