Find AGNI at AWP!

The annual Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) Conference is next week in Portland, Oregon—will you be there? AGNI will be. Here’s where you can find us:

Find us in the conference bookfair at table T7066. We’ll have current and past issues available for sale, and would love to chat!

Thursday, March 28th

4:30-5:45PM (Oregon Convention Center, Level 1, B115) AGNI Poetry Editor Sumita Chakraborty will be part of the panel “Editing Patriarchy: Women Editors Respond to Historic & Restorative Publishing,” along with Rachel Morgan, Lauren Slaughter, Anna Lena Phillips Bell, and Melissa R. Sipin.

7:00-10:00PM (The Slide Inn, 2348 SE Ankeny, Portland): our third annual omnibus poetry reading—with 32 Poems, Pleiades, Gulf Coast, and Quarterly West. Each magazine will have five readers, each reader will have five minutes, and there will be two 15-minute intermissions. AGNI’s lineup features Maggie SmithJennifer Kwon DobbsEdgar KunzWilliam Archila, and Natalie Shapero. Open to the public—and free, including appetizers and complimentary-drink tickets while they last.

Friday, March 29th

12:00-1:15PM: You have three choices!

(Oregon Convention Center, Level 1, F149): In the panel “Diana’s Disapora: Diana Der-Hovanessian’s Influence on Armenian-American Writers,” five panelists will discuss the legacy of the poetry and translation of AGNI Contributing Editor Diana Der-Hovanessian, who passed away in March of 2018.

(Oregon Convention Center, Level 1, D139-140) AGNI Poetry Editor Sumita Chakraborty will be part of the panel “Poetics of Oblique Violence,” along with Nomi Stone, Sara Eliza Johnson, Paige Lewis, and Roy Guzman.

(Oregon Convention Center, Level 1, D136): AGNI Blog Editor David Ebenbach will be moderating and participating in the panel “Beautiful Minds: Writing Mental Illness,” also featuring Christopher Ankney, Angie Chuang, Bethanne Patrick, and Katy Richey.

2:00-2:45PM (AWP Bookfair, Orison Books table, T8001): AGNI Blog Editor David Ebenbach will be signing copies of his new poetry collection, Some Unimaginable Animal.

3:00-4:15PM (OCC, Level 1, A103-104): AGNI Blog Editor David Ebenbach will be part of the panel “Between the Margins and Mainstream: Liminal Spaces of Jewish American Literature,” along with Erika Meitner, Alicia Jo Rabins, Jacob Appel, and Aaron Tillman.

Saturday, March 30th

7:00-9:00PM (Independent Publishing Resource Center, 318 SE Main St #155): AGNI Blog Editor David Ebenbach will be reading poetry from his new collection, Some Unimaginable Animal, as part of a lineup of readers from Orison Books.
