Sumita Chakraborty

Sumita Chakraborty is poetry editor of AGNI and has been a member of the editorial team since 2006. Her first collection of poetry, Arrow, is forthcoming from Alice James Books in the U.S. and Carcanet Press in the U.K. in September 2020. In 2017 she received a Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation, and in 2018 has been shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best Single Poem by the Forward Arts Foundation. She is visiting assistant professor of women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, as well as a lecturer in English and creative writing, at Emory University, and is at work on a scholarly book project provisionally titled The Poetics of Ethics in the Anthropocene. Her poetry, criticism, and scholarship have recently appeared or are forthcoming in PoetryThe RumpusThe American Poetry Review, The Los Angeles Review of BooksCultural Critique, and elsewhere.
